Door Controller Version 2
Version 2 was introduced in March 2014 and represented a major step forward from the previous version 1 hardware.
Like its predecessor, the version 2 hardware is based on the Arduino platform, but instead of acting as a “shield”, version 2 includes a complete enclosure containing the processor board, Ethernet module, power module, relay module and other components that provide the necessary connections for door strikes, card readers, and other peripherals.
Amongst the key improvements with Version 2 were the change to pluggable connectors instead of screw terminals (much easier for field termination and replacement); and the introduction of native Ethernet connectivity which allowed the door controllers to be connected directly to a standard network. This was a departure from the serial-only (RS-232) connectivity of the version 1 boards.
